CRSCM is dedicated to raising awareness and lowering financial barriers of access to cord blood stem cells through advocacy efforts with the Federal Government.
Specifically, CRSCM believes that federal legislation is needed to educate expectant women about cord blood banking and to allow families to use tax-free dollars to make cord blood banking more affordable. The coalition has currently endorsed two bills in the U.S. House of Representativesto this end including the "Family Cord Blood Banking Act," (HR 1614) authored by Representative Wally Herger (R-CA) and Representative Ron Kind (D-WI),and the "Cord Blood Education and Awareness Act”, which has yet to be reintroduced in the new Congress.
